Trenching and Excavations OSHA REQUIREMENTS

Course objectives – working understanding of OSHA Excavation Standard 29, CFR 1926 Subpart P, understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the “Competent Person”, the ability to evaluate excavations and trenches for OSHA compliance and overall job site safety, weight of soil, fatalities in excavations, competent person requirements, Protective Systems.

General requirements to include – surface encumbrances, underground installations, access and egress, exposure to vehicular traffic, exposure to falling loads, warning system for mobile equipment, hazardous atmospheres, water accumulation, adjacent structures, protection from loose rock or soil, inspections, fall protection and excavation training requirements
